Study/Work: Aberystwyth University Student
About me: I'm Charlie, currently I study International Politics & Strategic Studies at Aberystwyth University, and I'm originally from Portsmouth. I joined the party in July 2016 after being active for a month or two before then. I worked with my local party in Portsmouth campaigning and speaking to local people, providing a clear alternative to the CON/LAB/UKIP administration in the City Council. From Portsmouth, I helped with a local by-election in Pennington, where we got a Young Liberal elected, Jack Davies, by just a single vote, taking it from the Conservatives.
I got involved in politics because I wanted to make a difference and give people the voice they deserve at every level, not least young people. I put my name forward for co-option because I know that although I may not be experienced, I'm quick to learn and I believe I can make a meaningful contribution to RhI Cymru in 2017. I'm also the Secretary for Aberystwyth Student and Young Liberals, and I plan to use this role to ensure that ideas and initiatives of ASYL's executive can be communicated to RhI Cymru and if possible, used to help other societies around Wales. On the off chance I'm not either studying or engaging in politics, I may be walking, watching Netflix, drinking, eating, or sleeping.
What I do: I am responsible for helping plan and run all RhI Cymru events and campaigns, including Freshers literature. I am also tasked with working with the Welsh Campaigns Committee to help include young people in national campaigns.
